Get active for mental wellbeing

The benefits to leading an active lifestyle are huge especially for our mental wellbeing. Being physically active physically boosts your mood, reduces stress and anxiety. When we are active your body releases endorphins, these are our feel good chemicals and improve can improve our self-esteem. It’s important to remember you don’t need to be able to run like Mo Farah to lead on active lifestyle or have abs like you see on Love Island. Slow passed activities are wonderful for our wellbeing walking and gentle bike riding are highly recommended. 

Why not get physical, here are some tips

  • Can you walk to school or bike college rather than take the bus, and remember the benefits of connect  
  • Could you put some time aside for a walk each day 
  • Hit the stairs and not the lift 
  • If you have to get a bus to school or college could get off a stop earlier and walk 
  • See what sporting activities are available in your local community, at your school or college. Remember you don’t need to be able to dribble like Cristiano Ronaldo or Steph Houghton to enjoy sport. Remember an expert was once a beginner
  • Easy exercise like stretching again is great for out mental wellbeing
  • Squeeze walking into your day as much as you can
