Be Mindful

Mindfulness

It can be easy to rush through life without stopping to notice much.

Paying more attention to the present moment, to your own thoughts and feelings, and to the world around you, can improve your mental wellbeing.

Some people call this awareness "mindfulness". Mindfulness can help us enjoy life more and understand ourselves better. You can take steps to develop it in your own life.

Be mindful and take notice

This is a tricky one as we all lead such busy lives and with so much technology on offer it can be difficult to be in the moment, but focus on your thoughts and feelings if you can, notice your body and what’s going on in the world around you. Some people call this awareness "mindfulness". It can positively change the way you feel about life and how you approach challenges. It does not need to really intense to start to feel good. Take some time out to be mindful, here are some ideas;

  • Does everything need to be recorded or captured and put on social media? The best moments we have in our lives and not captured and recorded, you can’t be mindful if you’re always on your phone
  • When walking or being active, what can you hear, what can you smell and what can you see, slow it all down if you can
  • Have a de-clutter day, tidy up that wardrobe, bedroom or garden
  • Visit new places, even going somewhere different for lunch is great for being mindful
  • Take a different route to school or college if you can
