FREE Advocacy Workshop Northampton

Stop Press – Free Advocacy Workshop

Northampton VCS Forum – Wed 8th March, 10am – 12pm

The Deco, Abington Square, Northampton

‘Many people have never heard the term advocacy, or know what it means, yet many of us advocate every week informally for ourselves and those we care for. This informal presentation will introduce to role of a professional advocate and how they can support you to get your, or the person you support, voice heard.

There are many different types of advocacy, some of which the local authority MUST provide – come and find out what you may be entitled to.

Recent legislation in the Care Act enables people with significant difficulty to have an advocate when undergoing assessment or reviews for their care & support needs. We also support people who are not able to instruct us themselves (non-instructed advocacy) or have limited capacity to make decisions. This presentation will share how an advocate can support them, especially if there are no able relatives.

Total Voice Northamptonshire also have advocates who can support people living in Northamptonshire to make their complaint about any NHS funded care.

More will be explained about this at the presentation’
