Drawing and Talking: A Jungian Approach with Children and Adolescents
There are many children in schools who would benefit from some extra attention. Based on 40 years of Jungian theory and practice, Dr John Allan has noticed that a supportive and caring relationship seems to activate the self-healing potential within the psyche of the child and adolescent.
Drawing and Talking Ltd take pleasure in inviting you to attend a one day workshop led by Dr John Allan creator of the Drawing and Talking Therapy technique that is now being used with children and adolescents in schools across the UK.
John Allan is Professor Emeritus of Counselling Psychology at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada and the Author of numerous articles and books on Play Therapy and school Counselling. His titles include such topics as: Inscapes of the Child’s world; Written Paths to Healing; Empowering Students through Classroom Discussions; Children as Storytellers, and Violence Prevention. Dr John Allan received his PhD from the Institute of Education University of London and is currently a Senior Training Analyst with Pacific Northwest Society of Jungian Analyst (Canada and USA).
The workshop will:

Outline Jungian theory as applicable to children and symbolic activities.
•
Show slides depicting the results of using Drawing and Talking Therapy in schools with a variety of children aged 3yrs to 17yrs.
•
Provide information on how to understand the emotions embedded in the various images and symbols that children use in their drawings.
•
Demonstrate the evolution of children’s emotional life through trauma, pain, loss and struggle into resolution and rebirth of a renewed and restored self concept.
