An amazing selection of courses are now available to book from September to November and beyond. www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/tamhs They are all part of the Targeted Mental Health in Schools Programme (TaMHS), and you don’t need to be part of the programme to book a course. - The Solihull Approach Foundation Course (2 days) –a nationally recognised course, promoting emotional wellbeing in infants, children, adolescents and families. ‘A valuable course that can be embedded through many areas.’
- Zippy’s Friends – an international mental health programme for 5-7 year olds, teaching all children social and coping skills. Nowin many Northants schools. ‘It helps me to talk to my friends when I’m angry.’
- Self Harm – what to do in school – exploring self harm and how it manifests itself in school. Strategies to help and using the new Northamptonshire self- harm toolkit. ‘Having someone to talk to at school helped me to not need to self harm any more.’
- Domestic Abuse – learning to identify signs, understand the impact, best practice and where to get help. This course is for supporting all school age children. ‘I feel so scared when Mummy & Daddy fight.’
- Loss, Separation & Bereavement – helpful for adults working with children in school, develop awareness of various losses and strategies to deal with them. ‘It took me a year and a half to get over it, ‘cos I missed my Dad.’
- Protective Behaviours – for all ages, feeling safe or not? What to do when we don’t feel safe. (Two different courses.) ‘I would recommend PBs all over the world.’ Year 9 boy.
- FRIENDS For Life – a 10 session programme based on CBT, helping children in KS2/3 to develop coping skills, build resilience and prevent anxiety and depression. ‘Learning how to change unhelpful thoughts has been really helpful.’
