John Hellins Primary School Wellbeing Wordle Winners

To promote and further introduce its children to the importance of physical, emotional and mental health, John Hellins Primary School held a Well-being Week from the 8th to the 12th February 2016. Throughout the week, the school had lots of visitors and activities, all centred on aspects of well-being. These included Zumba fitness sessions, coaching from the Northampton Saints, relaxation, yoga and mindfulness activities, healthy cooking classes and visitors talking about emotional and mental health, healthy lifestyles and physical well-being. The week also included the School Council’s launch of the Traffic Snake project (http://www.trafficsnakegame.eu).

As part of Well-being Week, John Hellins supported the Northamptonshire Mental Health Awareness Day on Friday 12th February by holding a Mental Health Awareness assembly and participating in a balloon launch from the playground at midday.

During the week, John Hellins was visited by John Fardon, Educational Entitlement Officer – Mental Health, who held an assembly with children from KS2. The session was centred on mental health and the management of worries and anxieties. The children responded very positively to the session and took a lot away that they could use and apply to their daily lives. The children were very excited afterwards to produce their ‘wordle’ entries for a competition John set them to win a Relax Kids CD for their class. The winners, Mollie and Karma were very proud to receive their prize CD for their class.
