Silverstone opens its gates for annual bike ride – Alex Waller Saints Player to open the event!

If you’ve been wondering what to do May bank holiday weekend local charity NorPIP have teamed up with Silverstone International Formula One Track to bring you the opportunity to cycle alongside Formula One teams Red Bull and Mercedes Petronas F1 on Friday 1^st May 2015.

Back bigger and better than last year, the event welcomes cycle riders from age 7 upwards, giving children and grown-ups the chance to rev their bikes up in the pit lanes, take to the chicanes and go! (helmets compulsory)

Aston Martin, Ferrari and Toyota will give you the opportunity to see their cars up close and personal as well as great stalls and give aways from British Cycling, soft play areas for children, as well as local dignitaries making an appearance.

Spectators as well as cyclists are welcomed to this tremendous event which promises to be a once in a lifetime opportunity to beat Formula One teams on two wheels!

The annual bike race raises money for Northamptonshire based charity NorPIP, the Executive Director Anna Day tells us where the money goes. “We use these funds to help parents who are struggling with coping with their babies, often as a result of postnatal depression or mental health problems. We provide therapy to families to help them overcome traumas affecting their ability to parent, helping them to develop a loving relationship.”

“Therapy that we provide helps parents and their infants stay together, often when an infant is at risk of neglect and abuse” Clinical Lead Rebecca Wylde at NorPIP told us.
